Fascial Stretch Therapy Treatment and Care

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) is a unique and comprehensive stretching technique beyond traditional muscle-focused stretching. It zeroes in on the fascia, a complex and interconnected network of connective tissue on the body’s muscles, bones, nerves, and joints.

Benefits of Fascial Stretch Therapy

The benefit from fascial stretch therapy targets the fascia, and connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and joints, to improve flexibility and range of motion beyond traditional stretching. This releases tightness, reduces pain, and improves posture. For athletes, stretching the fascia enhances performance, movement efficiency, and body awareness. It also promotes relaxation, improves joint stability, and speeds recovery. This benefits athletes, those with chronic pain, and anyone seeking improved well-being.

What to Expect in Your Sessions

You can expect a gentle, assisted stretching technique performed on a treatment table. A typical FST session will be guided by a therapist. They will assist you through pain-free stretches, using traction and movement to target the fascia, the connective tissue surrounding muscles, bones, and joints. These multi-directional stretches release tension and improve mobility. The relaxing session involves gentle pulling sensations, with therapists working within your comfort level and guiding you through breathing techniques. It offers improved flexibility, range of motion, and overall well-being by helping you move more freely, reduce pain, and feel better in your body.

How is FST Different from Stretching?

Fascial Stretch Therapy (FST) differs significantly from traditional stretching. Unlike traditional stretching focuses on individual muscles. FST optimizes movement by targeting the fascia, the interconnected connective tissue network surrounding muscles, bones, and joints. FST aims for gentle traction and multi-directional movement, often with therapist assistance, unlike static or dynamic stretching of individual muscles. Furthermore, FST sessions take a holistic approach, addressing restrictions throughout the body, not just isolated muscle groups. Consequently, FST aims to enhance greater improvements in flexibility and range of motion compared to traditional stretching.

WHAT CUSTOMERS SAY ABOUT KAYLA

I highly recommend Kayla! I’ve been having general stiffness issues and I came out feeling as though I was floating. The next day, I woke up and wasn’t as slow to get out of bed and felt lighter than I have in awhile. I’d describe the experience like that of a massage but better! Kayla herself was super friendly, approachable and helpful. She targeted a problematic area during the session and showed me stretches to do for improvement. I’ll definitely be repeating the experience in the near future!

Kayla is without a doubt the best trainer I’ve ever worked with. Her skill level, ability to adapt training programs to suit your needs & support your injuries/imbalances in the process is unmatched. I have a lot of sports related injuries and getting back into the gym was definitely a stressful experience but Kayla supported my journey with so much attention to detail and patience, I have never trusted someone so much with my body. I have also done FST sessions with her and it was incredible. She was able to release tension in parts of my body I didn’t even know were tight. Please do yourself a favour and work with Kayla, you will not regret it.

Really enjoyed my Fascial Stretch therapy with Kayla. Amazing woman, great conversation and the stretch was amazing. Had a knee injury and with her stretches I’ve been gaining better mobility in my movements as well as getting stronger in positions that I didn’t know I could even get into. Haha. I highly recommend this to everyone, no matter what age you are. Everyone needs a good stretch, but also everyone needs to feel great and mobile. Looking forward to my next session with Kayla. She’s amazing! 🙌🏿

I highly recommend going to Kayla if your body is super tense and tight like mine is as I am constantly sitting down in front of a computer! She is very knowledgeable in the fitness industry and is so great at answering any questions you have. She worked a lot on my lower body, especially the hips area, and the next day I felt so much lighter and not as heavy. My lower back pain was gone and she even gave me some great, simple stretches to do as she knows how busy I am throughout the day! …

Fascia is a continuous, web-like connective tissue that surrounds and supports muscles, bones, nerves, organs, and joints throughout the body. It plays a crucial role in movement, stability, and flexibility, acting like a second skin that holds everything together. Healthy fascia is supple and elastic, allowing for smooth, pain-free movement. However, stress, injury, poor posture, and inactivity can cause the fascia to become tight, stiff, or restricted, leading to pain, reduced mobility, and muscle imbalances.

People of all ages and activity levels can benefit from FST. It can be helpful for athletes, people with chronic pain, those recovering from injuries, and anyone looking to improve their flexibility and overall well-being. .

In-person appointments are 90 minutes in length. This involves an assessment, treatment, and mobility work about your body’s needs.

Massage therapists knead muscles for relaxation, while FST uses assisted fascial stretching for flexibility and mobility. Massage targets muscles; FST targets fascia and joints. Massage benefits relaxation; FST increases range of motion and performance. Massage is passive; FST is dynamic. Massage is for relaxation/rehab; FST is for athletes and mobility restrictions. Massage sensations vary; FST is a deep, assisted stretch.

FST is generally safe when performed by a qualified therapist. However, it’s important to inform your therapist of any medical conditions or injuries you have.

You might feel some stretching sensations, but the therapist will work within your comfort level. It’s generally a gentle and relaxing experience. Always communicate with your therapist if you feel any pain. It is a pain-free approach that targets the body’s connective tissue to improve mobility, and release tension, and individuals seeking relief from chronic pain.

While some self-myofascial release techniques (like foam rolling) can be helpful, FST is best performed by a trained therapist who can properly assess your needs and guide you through the stretches. The assisted nature of FST is a key element of its effectiveness as it enables the practitioner to guide the client’s body into positions that would be difficult or impossible to achieve independently.
