LPS Athletic vs. Holmes Elite Training

Holmes Elite vs. LPS Athletic: Choosing Your Path to the Pros

Athletes north of Toronto have two respected performance coaches close by. Seon Holmes, a former track and field athlete, runs Holmes Elite Health & Fitness in Concord and has trained NBA players including #1 NBA Draft pick Andrew Wiggins and Nickeil Alexander-Walker.

Both Holmes Elite and LPS Athletic have helped athletes reach the pro level. But the method and environment at each facility are very different.

If you are a serious athlete or the parent of a rising star, choosing the right environment isn’t just about the equipment. It’s about the Methodology. Here is how we compare.

The Philosophical Divide: Personal Training vs. Dominance

The Holmes Elite Approach: The Personal Coach

Holmes Elite offers speed training, strength and conditioning and fitness programs “for all levels of fitness,” from pro athletes to adults with weight-loss and toning goals, along with youth speed camps.

  • Focus: Speed, strength and conditioning, and general fitness.
  • Best For: Athletes and fitness clients who want a personal, high-energy trainer that can give them good results.

The LPS Athletic Approach: The Pro Maker™

Founded by Master Coach Clance Laylor (1 in 4 in Canada), LPS Athletic is built on the Athlete Activation System. We don’t just “train” you; we Remap you. Every program starts with a Remapping™ Assessment, every rep is coached, and we test athletes often in our training app so you can track your progress every week. We’re also the authors of the #1 Amazon International Best Sellers in Sports Training, Exercise & Fitness.

  • Focus: Neuromuscular dominance, explosive power, structural rebalancing and injury prevention.
  • Best For: Athletes driven to earn a scholarship, a national team spot or a pro contract. LPS is selective and athlete-focused, and more for athletes that want more than just good results, they want the best.

Real Transformations: Building Pros From Scratch

Height and skill get you noticed. Strength and power keep you on the floor at the next level.

The Sekou Tunkara Story: From Bumped Around to Ranked #13 in Canada

Raised in Gambia, Sekou moved to Canada in 2016 barely knowing the game. By 17 he was playing for Uchena Academy and ranked the #13 player in the country. At 6’8″ and about 178 lb, though, he was getting bumped off balance. He was also getting hurt often, and his tight calves kept him from squatting properly.

“Now no one can bully me on the court no more.” — Sekou Tunkara

The LPS Difference: Testing first, then a plan. Sekou gained almost 20 lb in about a month and a half. He went from one chin-up to three or four, fixed his mobility to squat deeper and lift more, and went from about two dunks a game to five. He takes contact better and gets hurt less, on his way to his goal of Division I basketball.

The Wayne Moore Story: From the High School Gym to the CFL

Before LPS, Wayne trained at his high school with his coach and gym teacher. Over about six years at LPS he went from about 195 lb to 215 lb, with big gains in speed and power, and became a pro running back in the CFL. Today Wayne coaches at LPS.

“Whenever I join a new team… I always notice I’m always in the top bunch.” — Wayne Moore

The LPS Difference: A competitive environment that “forces you to compete” every day, just like training camp at the pro level.

The P.K. Subban Story: From Slow and Overweight to Explosive

The P.K. the hockey world knows is explosive. The teenager who walked into LPS was overweight, slow and weak, carrying 19%+ body fat. His mother, a former sprinter, sent him to us, and his training included 400m sprints.

“…the differences that it’s made for me in a positive way on the ice, in terms of, my explosiveness and how long I can sustain that power and strength on the ice.” — P.K. Subban

The LPS Difference: Speed is built on force. We fixed his structural imbalances and remapped his nervous system for elite-level output, which helped give him the 2nd hardest slap shot in the NHL.
