Dr. Mahmoud Zaerian, Chiropractor
Dr. Zaerian is the owner and operating doctor at FOCUS, where he practices as a Chiropractor, provider of Contemporary Medical Acupuncture, and Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist (CSCS).
Mahmoud graduated from the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College in Toronto and holds an Honours Degree in Kinesiology from York University. He also holds a certificate in Contemporary Medical Acupuncture from McMaster University, recognized by the American Board of Medical Acupuncture (ABMA) and by the American Academy of Medical Acupuncture (AAMA).
Complementing his manual medicine and acupuncture training, Mahmoud is also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist through the National Strength and Conditioning Association, recognized internationally. Dr. Mahmoud Zaerian has been working in the field of health and fitness for over 20 years working with some of the city’s top amateur athletes and national Olympians.
Dr. Z is a Neuro-functional Sports Performance Practitioner and is considered a leading-edge practitioner providing a neuro-functional approach to the assessment and treatment of movement disorders and pain problems. This approach emphasizes assessing the body as a functioning system and integrating a multi-level approach to the recovery of pain problems.
Dr. Z is the course director at Advanced Therapeutic Programs, where he is the lead instructor in the delivery of advanced needling, assessment, and rehab courses geared towards enhancing the skills of his peers.
Dr. Z has been teaching others for many years, previously as a senior instructor in the McMaster University Contemporary Medical Acupuncture course for 5 years before becoming the course director at Advanced Therapeutic Programs.
His passion for teaching has him teaching other health professionals throughout Canada and Europe.
Outside of clinical practice and teaching courses to other health professionals, Dr. Z works as the lead medical director for the Men’s National Gymnastics team for Canada and one of the therapists for the Women’s National Gymnastics team.
He has in the past done work with various NCAA level and professional athletes and is one of the rostered therapists for Athletics Canada.
Dr. Z has been featured on daytime shows as well as reputable journals, such as ORAL Health. He also spends a great deal of time presenting at various conferences and clinics, speaking at various personal training conferences, and the ODA Annual Spring Meeting.
