His parents, supportive of his newfound interest, played a crucial role in nurturing his aspirations.

A Dynamic Shift to LPS

I’m Anthony Khoe. I play tennis and I’m from Toronto, Canada. My first memory from playing tennis was sparked. My, my passion was when I was seven years old and my parents, family friend introduced me and we’ve had some fun. I was like, Oh my, this is what I want to do. My parents actually played tennis and I actually wanted to play tennis.

And I was like, they never started playing tennis. I was the first one in the whole family to start playing tennis. That’s right. Yeah, I want to do this and I want to continue, I’ve been playing for eight years now. Before, I was actually doing like a private lesson for Olympic weightlifting.

And then I came here and I was like, Oh, this is this energy is just different. I want to, this it’s not just one on one. It’s, it builds me up and it actually motivates me to do better and strive, I’ve been here for, I think, two years. Three years now. And I enjoyed the energy and I actually loved the push, like how the coaches pushed me how I heard about LPS was from a tennis fan actually introduced me into the, into this gym and yeah, I love it now.

My first impression was I came into the door. I was like, music’s loud, everything’s loud. And I was like, Oh my God, this is a whole new level. It’s like energy is just. Nothing I’ve ever trained with before, it just hyped me up. What I’ve experienced from working in LPS into tennis, it’s like I’m getting so much stronger.

I used to be so skinny when I first started playing tennis. And before I came here, and now I feel big, and I feel faster, I can jump higher the workouts are, it’s it’s crazy, it’s good. An injury that happened to me, that made me wanna made me think of quitting, was like, golfer’s elbow.

On my, I think on my forearm, somewhere in my forearm. I was is I keep getting injuries. I sprained my ankle too like a lot of times, but when I came here, everything repaired it, like I kept getting good and it gets stronger. Nothing, no injuries. The atmosphere is just energetic.

Like it’s quiet outside. When I opened the door, boom, I feel the air, I feel the. The music, just like the bass. Oh, my, my experiences with the coaches is that like they, every time I try to do a pr before I do a pr, they’re like, let’s go. Go, let’s go. Like they, they pumped me up.

They pumped me up, and then, and when I hit it they fist bumped me. They that me up, they slap my bag like good shit. As an athlete, that, that really pushes me, I have people surrounding me that believe in me that I can go far, some sacrifices I had to make to pursue my career was definitely spending time with friends, obviously.

With family, too, sometimes. They’re not around and it’s just, I don’t spend enough a lot of time with them, too. This is like my family, too, something that stands out to me is probably coming here and hitting PRs, that’s the energy. Hitting that after training a lot and missing, missing and missing PRs, just hitting that, the feeling is incredible, dominate is tells me to push harder, just be your better self in the gym and outside of the gym. Some future goals is probably being a coach in tennis. I feel like teaching people how to play and get good at the sport is one of my goals.
