Alan Warner, Strength Coach, MSc, CSCS, AASc
Alan Warner is a certified Strength and Conditioning Coach (NSCA-CSCS), and an Athlete Activation System Certified (AASc) Coach. He has a strong competitive background in national level swimming and water polo for his native country of Barbados and has represented his home country for a decade regionally and internationally at the Pan American Games in these sports.
Since moving to Canada, he graduated from the University of Toronto with Bachelor of Science Honors and Masters of Science from Mt. Sinai School of Medicine in New York. His academic background is in clinical research co-ordination. His joy for high performance athletics and strength training has always been a critical component of his lifestyle and he is a strong advocate for communicating the value of professional strength training and exercise literacy across exercise science professions.
Alan has experience training professional and amateur athletes from a variety of sports and has also been the assistant coach for the junior national water polo team of Barbados. He is a big proponent of doing and experiencing what you teach or put athletes to do. As such, you will regularly find him also training just as hard to increase his own strengths relevant to his sport at LPS.
His coaching philosophy focuses on developing not just an athlete’s physical strength, mobility, speed, explosiveness and resilience for their chosen sport, but in teaching athletes how true professional strength training benefits them. Being mentally relentless in your respective sport is key as well as outside of it. The nature of sport is fast paced, dynamic and continuous. Therefore, the discipline with which you approach sport can be so valuable in determining your approach to life.
